DR. MILKA VENANCE OTIENO
POSITION: WEI CHAIRPERSON
Dr. Milka Otieno is a consultant trained professionally as a teacher, counselor, and researcher. She is a lecturer in Educational Psychology,
Research Methods in Education, and Education Management, Planning and Administrationcourses at St. John’s University of Tanzania. As an educator and consultant, she deals with issues of ethics as a member of the university ethics committee. Dr. Milka has also been involved in various consultancy roles including educational policy review processes in Tanzania through the Ministry of Education Science and Technology [MoEST] and has facilitated UNESCO’s O3 project to students’ peer educators in youth Sexuality education programs. Her research areas are in support systems that address gender equity and inclusivity with specific interests in vulnerable learners. Her understanding of a myriad of policy-related issues in the learning and teaching processes at various levels of education in Tanzania is relevant to WEI Tanzania. However, as a researcher, she has authored several gender and inclusive-based articles published in international journals. Her philosophy, centered on social justice concepts, brings to the foreground issues of support systems in education as crucial to addressing equity, access, and inclusivity in the educational and social participation processes.
CPA(T) SUZANA D. MANKAMBILA
POSITION: FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Suzana is a qualified Certified Public Accountant with special interest in Projects management. She holds Master degree in project management from Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA). Suzana, soon after she gets her Advance
diploma in Accountancy at College of Business Education-Dodoma, she joined Tanzania Breweries Limited as Assistant Accountant, she was letter promoted to Production Accountant and stayed on that position for six years. She later joined National Aids Control Program-under Global fund where she worked as Program accountant. Suzana provides all professional Accounting services to WEI Tanzania in ensuring that all financial procedures and controls are followed and implemented.
JOYCE KYANDO
POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Joyce has more than 15 years’ experience in Non-Profit sector with a proven track record in building strategic partnership, Organization Capacity building, fundraising, volunteer engagement and program Development. Joyce
has served in staff leadership positions on boards and as consultant for organization of all sizes from small, grassroots non profit to large national organizations. As her most recent position of Senior program manager, she was responsible for field programs, overseeing development, programs, events, and operations in different regions of Tanzania. She has also been involved with several women’s and girls’ empowerment programs and brings that passion to WEI Tanzania. Joyce received her undergraduate studies at Sokoine University of Agriculture and pursued B.Sc. In Environmental Sciences and Management. She also received her master’s in Business Administration majoring Human Resource Management.
NAME: LEAH D. MWAKASEGE
POSITION: ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE MANAGER
As Environment and Sustainable Agriculture manager, Her role is to develop and implement environment strategies to ensure sustainable development and promote initiatives and approaches that engage women and youths in
agriculture and resources management in general. She is also an expert on Climate Change adaptation and mitigations to ensure there is food security at family level. She holds Master of Science in Management of Natural Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and BSc. in Environmental Sciences and Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture. She is experienced in Research and training. Leah began her career as Medical Representatives, Education officer, Research assistant and Chemist. She was involved in research project as research Technician from 2011-2014 and as research assistant from 2015-2017 at Africa Rice Research Center where she work in four different sections (Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding, Agronomy and Administration). Leah has conducted numerous field practical works in rice growing region within East and Central Africa. Her main roles were conducting research, training farmers and Extension officers on good farming practice related to research project objectives, soil sampling, data collection, research paper writing and publication. Based on her experience; she has been empowering women with simple technologies of Climate Smart Agriculture which help to increase food security particular to women headed houses found in Mpwapwa, Chamwino and Bahi districts.
NAME: MS. ADVERA MEDARD
POSITION: LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS MANAGER
Advera is a qualified project manager with experience of more than 8 years in project facilitation and community mobilization. She has strong project management skills. She acquired a bachelor degree of Arts in Project Planning
Management and Community Development from the University of Dodoma. Advera is experienced on implementing WASH projects at both communities and at institutions such schools and health centres/dispensaries. She has worked with different local and International NGOs as a Project Officer under WASH programs; the programs based in supply of clean and safe water to the communities and institutions that have water scarcity. She has experience of working with marginalized and vulnerable communities particularly women and youths. Advera is highly organized dedicated project manager with a proven ability to take instruction from all levels and build up good working relationship independently or with other colleagues. At WEI Tanzania, Advera is responsible to manager the planning, implementation and Evaluation of livelihood projects.
NAME: Ms. LEAH MASHALA
POSITION: FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNICATION MANAGER
As fund rising Manager her main responsibility is planning, organizing and overseeing activities to secure funds at WEI Tanzania. Her primary
objective is to raise financial support by creating relationship and collaborate with various internal and external development stakeholders, donors, and corporations. Leah holds Master degree of Social Sciences in Community Development Studies from the University of Dodoma (UDOM), as well as, a Bachelor degree in Community Development from Tumaini University Iringa. She has extensive knowledge and experience of more than 10years in Project design, Grant Writing and Project Proposal development, Managing and coordinating various Development Programs, with a passion to promote sustainable development for the well-being of communities. Capable in building strategic partnerships and networks with public, private, local CBO and NGOs as a key link between development partners and government at all level.
